New Porphyry Plant

Älvdalens Nya Porfyrverk was founded in 1897 by Frost Anders Andersson. The museum shows the exact environment where porphyry production took place until 1984. Some of the machines were constructed at the end of the 18th century.

For over 100 years, Långö Bruk was an industrial community whose name became known throughout the world. There were smithies, a manor house, a school, and everything else that belonged to a mill. Today, the smiths’ hammer blows have fallen silent, and only a couple of houses and a few house foundations remain.
